I've seen a couple of really beautiful pictures, but this one was in an Orvis catalogue and blew me away for not only being technically beautiful, but a perfect representation of Henri Cartier-Bresson's "decisive moment:"

Edited because I can't post it inline:

Edited again because I really don't want someone to come along and just point out its shopped and ruin my apprechiation for it. Damned pixelmonkeys always futzing around with my hobbies..bah, flibbertygibbets!

I have always wanted a high res version of that picture. I've yet to find it.

Anyone?

I am not swift enough to find them or post them if I was but-beyond a doubt
Vince Marinaro's pictures of rising trout on the Letort will always be my favorites.
Fish belong in the water unless you intend to eat them but that's a different Kettle creek.lol

The guy who took that picture parked here and is a heck of a photographer

This is just an unreal capture. Not published or anything, but probably should be. I also suggest browsing Luke C's flies and blog. He has incredible fly tying finesse. Great photographic eye as well.

The End Is Near - Luke C - photo on Flickr.com

That's a great picture, but it's probably not published because the fish is flossed.

It happens to the best of us with salmon!

:)

the guy has a blog, was talking about fishing the "J" caption under the picture said "I caught many like this"

Jay,

Flossed as in foul hooked on outside of mouth? i.e. Lined basically? Didn't notice at first but you may be right. Little difficult to tell with all the streamer fiber in the way. I don't think any of his photos are published yet but some of his fly tying ones should be. He captures the flies like none other.

Yep.

It's just my opinion, but it looks like that fish was lined.

It happens all the time when fishing for salmon and steelhead in any tribs that have both.

Okay, Okay. You guys took it too a new level. I guess I'm just too obsessed with the fish to see the big picture.

Little update. Luke C - the photo I shared above has since been published in the Drake.

Check it out and give him some props on the photos. The specific creek his is on in the photos is an absolute gem. A very special spot.

Luke has a lot of great shots. If you have not you should check out his Flickr stream. He also does a real nice job on his macro close up pictures. http://www.flickr.com/photos/luke_c_photography/
