Anyone have any information on local glass rod makers. I like the older fenwicks and Winstons. I'm in the market for some thing new and I'm considering a modern glass rod.

Did you ever think to call Fenwick or Winston. I had really good sucess talking to Fenwick.Maybe they can give you info. My husband loved his fenwick glass rod.

i would suggest checking out this site www.fiberglassflyrodders.yuku.com

these guys really know glass rods, vintage and modern.plus there are always good fishing pictures posted.believe me it is very worth joining and asking your questions about fiberglass rods there.

I'll take a look, thanks...

it is also a great place for vintage blue collar reels and fancy ones as well.

Check out Mike McFarland.

These are true masterpieces. He used to sell them at a reasonable price, but is about a year behind last time I checked.

I'm a big fan of Scott fibertouches.

Also, check out Mark Steffen in Utah.

You might be able to get a diamondglass new, though they have shut down their US operations.

T and T also recently stopped making fiberglass rods.

Hardy also is coming out with a new series of rods.

I've owned/cast many of the modern rods. Ask questions about specific models if you have them.

Tom Morgan is one of the best rod builders out there. Ridiculous pricing for finished rods and even high for his blanks but his rods are probably the best out there.

Thank you all,

Once again the forum delivers.

Flyrodders has been a great resource for this project, thanks Shakey.

Morgan's rod's look so nice!!!

I'm going to settle on Mcfarland's Eastern tradition. Everything I have come to understand about his glass rod building I like.

I have a Scott F series 2 weight that I really like. Worth a look.
