Vintage South Bend Bamboo Rod

I bought a vintage South Bend bamboo flyrod at an estate sale. The number on it ready 469-7. I'm wondering what that means. I'm also wondering (1) can this be a viable fly rod, can I use it? (2) If I can use it, can you recommend a good reel (I would kinda prefer vintage) but can get a new one...that would work with the rod. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

"It's a fly/spin rod, I would call it a 7/8wt, but for shorter casts you really need 8wt line."
