The rod is 5' long and 0.5 weight. I didn't know they made rods that small. What are your thoughts on them? Has anyone ever casted one? Do they make half weight line?

As far as I know, the smallest fly line is a 1 weight, I could be wrong. The Sage-TXL-F which was recently discontinued made rods ranging between 0-000 weight. I've casted the 0 weight 7'10" Txl, and it was a neat little stick. Being almost 800$, I passed it up for a rod just as nice for way less money.

Just checked, Rio Trout LT Sage DT does make a fly line down to 000 weight.

The sage TXL-F was closer to $600.00 than $800.00. I have one in the 0wt and paid around $300.00 for it brand-new. I have the 0wt line on it and it's a blast to fish with.

the TFO 1/2wt is a fun rod
I've found it to be more of a toy than a "go-to"
I used a 2wt long taper (maybe the rio?)
fun dry fly rod for small native streams

I did a little reading up on it. Seems like 1 or 2 weight line is best because it loads the rod well, so its more of a 1 or 2 weight rod I guess? Since its only 5 feet maybes thats why they consider it a half weight
