I have been contemplating getting myself a sling pack. I am leaning towards the orvis safe passage, but nothing definite yet. Any opinions from anyone about the orvis or any other packs? Thanks, Adam

If you're looking at Orvis, check out the new waterproof sling. That's the way I'd go.

I buy nothing but waterproof packs these days. I have a roll top waist pack (umpqua) and roll top back pack (simms), nothing gets wet whether it rains or I take a swim.

Patagonia atom sling. Not big by any means but holds a lot for its size. Easily good for a days worth of fishing. Don't get me wrong, it'll hold more then a days worth of supplies but going from trout to smallies requires a quick repack. Good luck, happy hunting.

I have an Orvis Guide sling and love it. Holds a ton of ****, plus lunch and a rain coat.

I'll second Patagonia's Atom Sling. It's worth the money alone for the waterproof pocket and waterbottle holder.
