Refurbishing Bamboo Rods

I just picked up a battleworn Granger and I'd like to clean it up a bit. The finish looks pretty good and the wraps are okay. Any suggestions on cleaning the rod and the nickel silver reel seat?

Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook by Micheal Sinlair has a section in his book that works as well as any. He uses gunstock (Brownell's 3F) polish. I have use car polish as well. If you send me your e-mail I can PDF the pages and send them if you would like. You can use the 3F on the reelseats as well. Let me know?
