Does snowshoe rabbit float good enough to suspend a small weighted nymph? I was thinking of tying some Usuals, but no local shop has snowshoe feet. I figured I'd ask before spending money on materials and shipping.

Floats like a cork. Don't know about using it on something weighted, but it also works well in comparadun type flies instead of deer hair. If you try the Usual, make sure you separate the longer hairs out for the wing and use the shorter fibers for the body.

I purposely avoided puns about hare and hair. I'll leave that to somebunny else.

It floats well enough to be used as the dry in a dry-dropper rig. Just make sure to source your material carefully. Ask if it is genuine snowshoe hare and not just plain old rabbit's feet. This has been known to happen occasionally.

Thank you for the info guys. I'll look into the sources.

Very clever... ;]

also...use a powder like frogs fanny for floatant....avoid the gels. I use snowshoe for 90% of my dries in all sizes 14-midge

Thanks for the info govtmule
