Those “flies” were found on Salmon River (NY) bank last month and they all catch the salmon. What a freedom of patterns.
Mr. Gary LaFontaine should include them to his “proven collection” and A.K. Best can learn from the “flies” naivete charm.

What a purity, simplicity and sophistication.

PS: they go to my “Found Objects” souvenirs collection

...or did you just participate in the greatest fly swap ever concieved?

Good stuff.

Top one is a dried out egg sack. Good seeing you, man. You shoulda stuck around, they pushed pretty well later that afternoon.

Boyer

should of had a bend in the penny so it would flutter more.

Split shot fly? I thought they outlawed snagging?

and the can tab will obviously foul when executing those picture perfect spey casts...poor design imo.

Its bad enough to put a sinker directly on a hook but I would love to see the guy or gal that was throwing that treb.

Matt, it was great to see you. You are the fine salmon angler and good gallie.
I watched you how you perform and gracefully netted the big salmon in the strong current where most guys loose the landings!
I caught about 8 kings. The first one was brilliant 35 lbs king salmon hen ( the picture). Some of my fights takes me a mile and last for 30min!

My last appearance on SR was 30 years ago ( I do not have a written records of this …) but this one topped the last one. What a trip.

PS: Stay tune for jack scott or black doctor SR local “patterns” trends...

I already have the reservation to Oak Orchard for the prime time kings, steelhead and brown run this year and I think I’m ready with the “right flies”

most those flies are probably designed to snag but meet the minimum requirements to be considered flies or artificial lures. i think??
