Question for you folks...is there an effective/safe way to remove epoxy used on old flies?

I couldn't find anything on here, and the only google searches I found involved using a respirator and gloves to avoid any bodily contact with the recommended chemicals.

I've been able to hack away with a knife on a couple hooks like this, but I was just curious if there was an easier way.

I would think the easiest, and fastest, way would be to break it with a sturdy pair of pliers. Just wear some safety glasses when you do it.

Alcohol torch and pliers.... Use the torch to soften the woody and the pliers to pull it apart and off the hook

Thanks for the info here.

Unfortunately I have no access to the torch...plus it would probably be frowned upon in my apt building.

Pliers and or hacking away may need to be the way to go.

just tie some material behind that head it will fish...

Boil it then take a slotted screw driver ut the blade of it parrel the to shank of the hook. Then commence whackin it with a hammer.
