What type of biot is longer then goose that still provides a nice light/dark "segmentation"?

turkey biots are about the longest but goose biots can still be used

I've always used goose for tails and such, and turkey for dry fly bodies

I have heard of a biot called "Devaux", but the only shop I saw that carries it is in Europe. It may be the biots from a swam primary. I've also read that condor substitute biots are longer. But all of the condor substitute I've ever seen has herls on each side, as opposed to a biot on one side like a primary feather has.

What size hook are you tying on?

there is no feather that is called a 'deveaux'

you may be correct on the swan primary feather. could also be turkey (at least thats what my turkey looks like)

here is the article about a condor substitute

'deveaux' is actually a hackling technique

another online retailer has these feathers as condor substitutes

this site calls them goose

For biot bodies I most often use turkey. There are times, however, that goose biots are better. Goose biot bodies are useful for smaller dry flies. I like the Nature's Spirit premo goose biots.

Quill "Z" a product I sell and make. can be colored.
