I am planning on fishing the tail race of the Kinzua Dam soon. I have been doing some research online since I have never fished it yet. It looks like some nice water. Just wondering if anyone else fishes it or has fished it before.

I fished it a couple times. Never did very well - although it's supposed to hold some big trout from what I've heard. I was also told by several people that the best access is from the west side of the river. To do that, you want to cross the bridge in warren, and turn right onto what eventually turns into a dirt road that follows that side of the river up to the dam.
Good luck

good luck, let us know what its like i have always wanted to fish it but im afraid of the sasquatches in the area

Check Hemlock Road on whatever map program you use. There is access from there.

Been there twice this week.
With the lower flows and cold water, much of the trout have moved to slower and deeper water.

Two options there, you can nymph for the rainbows or throw big meat for the big Brownies in there.

Dry Fly action is very limited.

You must check the flow at the USGS before you go.
Anything under 3,000 cfs is fishable over that and the wading gets dicey..

Swinging large sculpin patters is my go to.

Here is a Brownie from last week.
