At what CFS does the YB become problematic to wade? I know it's somewhat individual but I heard some "conventional wisdom" sometime ago that said 350 gets a little dicey but I am not sure. Thanks in advance.

I'm seventy so I find 350 cu.ft./sec is my limit. Younger guys can go to 400-450

I don't like it over 400, and I'm a younger guy.

Gene-that Armstrong you are standing in in picture?

Agree that 400 or so is upper limit for the middle Breeches reg section. This is an easy stream to wade, but it can really be pushing at 400-500.

I like it under 400, but I remember when Herb had the fly shop, he posted that 750 was the upper limit for safe wading.

Wading or crossing? I've crossed it at 500, once. I found a bridge to get back. I don't think that just getting in the water to fish is terrible at that flow. I feel that 300-400 is ideal.

No, that's a side channel on the Madison River in Montana.

knew it was Montana-not sure where but can't mistake big sky country.

I fished the upper reaches today and it was in the 500 range. Creek was pushing and there were some riffs I could not cross in hip boots that would normally be easy. Overall however, it was fine fishing in upper YB today.
