Four stocked trout stream will dry up and ten others will be diminished. This is a proposed expansion of a longwall mining operation. This same mine apparently already caused subsidence which resulted in the draining of the lake that used to be in the middle of the park.
This is the first I heard of this permit, so I apologize if this has already been discussed but it struck me as being pretty outrageous. It seems that Consol Energy and DEP are determined to completely destroy this this park.
The article says this was to get at an additional 50 tons of coal - obviously a misprint.
