Dumb question but this is in a beginner's forum from a beginner -

I used to flyfish years ago and vaguely recall that in the later summer, it was a 'faux pas' to fish many streams because the trout were spawning.

When are those times?

I'm thinking of heading to the Little Lehigh this weekend for my first flyfishing experience in about 8 years (having a couple of kids got in the way : )

Usually fly anglers avoid trout streams in late summer due to warm water temps. If the water's over 70 degrees or so, catching and releasing trout can be lethal.

The spawn becomes an issue in mid-later fall. I usually avoid fishing over spawning fish, as do many other anglers.

As long as air temps stay manageable, I'd expect the LL to be fishable.

The LL has been fine, it's running around 63 65 the last few days!

Thanks so much guys. I will definitely make the trip to the Little Lehigh soon.

I used to love fishing Ridley Creek. Particularly in the winter, when the holdovers would be pretty large come January time-frame. But I'm sure that stream is way too hot now.

I would doubt that there are any trout in ridley right now.

They may stock it for the fall, but I am not sure.
