all good above.

simple and effective rig.

1. enough mono on reel , no flyline is used.

2. you can add a piece of hi vis for sight if you have it. tied to the end of mono on reel.

3. tippet ring? how about a small barrel swivel, easier to attach.

4. let's say 3 to 5 feet, 5x tippet, changing depending on water depth.

5. simplest, all amnesia, barrel swivel, 5x tippet.

work you way from there, customize with a dropper or droppers, add shot to point. thus drop shot leader. always go with darkest fly closest to bottom.

Kelly Galloup can explain this a little better. K Galloup. you tube, drop shot. Kelly's always helpful on other subjects as well.

Seven days without fishing makes one weak.

THANK YOU SIR FOR THE UPLIFTING POST. I will try to do better in the future.

nymphing is generally a one man preference. WHAT WORKS FOR YOU.

probably the most diversified. seems everyone has their own method.

spent years trying to develop the best nymph leader available. Guess I will take it with me. Remember you also can nymph very effective with a spinning rod.

I use the following formula for 95% of my indicator nymphing:

24-48" — .017” Maxima Chameleon
18" — .015” Maxima Chameleon
12" — .013” Maxima Chamleleon
8" — .010” Maxima Chameleon
18" — 10# Gold Stren

Tippet Ring (2mm)

24” — 3X (or 4x) Fluorocarbon, put my indicator on this section
24-48” — 4x Fluorocarbon (or 5x, 6x, etc.)

What determines the 24-48" on the first section? I think i will just try tying that section at 36" to start and see how it goes.

Also, why the piece of gold stren if you are using an indicator? Just in case you want to use the rig without one? Thanks!
