Here is a copy of an e-mail I received from Pete Goodman of Valley Forge Trout Unlimited. Any help you can give, whether you are a member or not, is appreciated:

Members and Friends,

This coming Saturday, April 17th is our first work day in some time.

I know that we are all busy with stuff – projects, kid’s events, spring fix-up and honey-do’s. But if you can spare a few hours for one or the other of our Valley Forge Trout Unlimited projects it would help our volunteers who will be manning the projects. To date we have had a marginal response and that is putting it most kindly. Please if there is any way that you can give us some time call Rich or Rod.

Assist with creating a rain garden. Our Backyard Ecology program is kicking off their initial projects of constructing rain gardens in the upper Crabby Creek Watershed. Please contact Rich Bauer at bludun@erols.com or 610-347-0155 to sign up to help on these projects. The goal is to get at least three rain gardens constructed at two different residences and catch all of that stormwater runoff that would otherwise flood into Crabby Creek. These are important project and need you support. Help make a difference in our watershed.

OR

Our Annual Stream Cleanup on Valley Creek will be coordinated by Rod Horton. Please contact Rod at horton_rl@verizon.net or 610-666-6167 to sign up for your stream section to clean. This year the Valley Creek Cleanup coincides with Green Valleys Association’s Schuylkill Scrub, Trout Unlimited’s Nationwide Stream Cleanup Day, Tredyffrin Township’s “Tidy Up Tredyffrin” and the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. The annual cleanups have made a big difference in the watershed. The amount of trash to be picked up has greatly reduced over the past several year but we still need your help to keep our Valley Creek CLEAN!

Thanks for your help.

Pete
