The Donegal Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be hosting several fly tying events this winter.
First off will be our annual Fly Tying Expo on Wednesday, December 17 at the Farm & Home Center on Arcadia Road in Lancaster. Three DTU members and 2 guests will demonstrate tying a variety of flies. The public is welcome, there is no charge for admission and DTU business will be kept to a minimum. The meeting begins at 7 PM.
Then through the rest of the winter, we will host 3 casual fly tying days, in Room 113 at the Farm & Home Center. Members as well as the public are invited to attend. Participants should bring their own tools, vises, lights and supplies to tie whatever patterns they wish to restock their fly boxes. Expect lots of ideas, tips, tricks and the odd fishing story as well as more than a few lies.
There is no charge, and registration is not required, although it is strongly suggested so we can contact you in the event the weather intervenes. Register via our website (www.donegaltu.org) or email flytyers@donegaltu.org.
Limited lessons for (relatively) new tyers can be offered with prior notice.
Sessions will run from 9AM until 1 PM, but participants may come and go as their schedule allows. You may attend one, two or all three events. Sessions will be held on Saturdays, January 17, February 21 and March 21. Again there is no charge and the public is welcome.
