With the new site, there may be some email notifications starting to show up for you. These are optional, but because of the cutover, turned on by accident. To manage these notifications you generally have Watched threads and Communications (old Private Messages) kicking out emails.

For threads, you will see an Unwatch button in the upper-righthand corner of a thread. You can unwatch a thread from there or if you want to turn it on to follow a thread. It might default to watch if you start a thread. In the Alerts, top-right menu bar, it will give you notice as well.

Also, review your Preferences! Many of the notices are turned off and on here. Just click on your name and select Preferences from your pop-up window. I would check all your preferences, especially Alerts and Email Options

Maybe i'm missing the preference check box or something but what I liked about the old site was the titles were only in bold if something new had been posted. Seems like they stay bold even if i've already read the last post. Made it easy to just pop in quick and read the new stuff. Does the new site do this?

This may have to do with the preferences with the theme (style preferences) set in the site as much as the platform or user preferences. Currently we are using the base standard theme that is cooked into the forum platform Once I get the last of the bugs and site cleaned up I am going to then add a new theme with certain style and visual preferences.

Can you show me what area of the site you are referring too please. I don't want to just assume that is the issue.

I do see differences in posts with bold verse threads I read.

Hit the lightning bolt for new posts

for example: I went to the general forum and clicked on the Clarks Creek thread. Scrolled down through it and read the last post. I left the forum. Came back and that Clarks creek thread was still in bold type. In the previous forum the title would have reverted to non-bold type and without having to open it I would know that I had already read the latest post. as you mentioned this might be preference or a style thing but I did like that feature.

i will look for the lightning bolt thing...

the lighning bolt thing takes me out of the "ordered" forum format. can't even tell what forum the posts are from.

@tomgamber see if this is what you are referring to about the threads. I went into the general forums and had the 2020 Fish Porn - Pop the hood and let them out and Clarks Creek fly action. Both both had been updated in the last 30 minutes for me. Looking at the General forum both threads were bold. Once I looked at both of those threads, that General forum indicates they are not bold and have been read. Now when I hit the back button they didn't go non-bold, it was only when hit the > Paflyfish General Forum at the top left did it non-bold di dit recognize viewed those threads.
Lemme know if that changes things for you.

that is what i am referring to . Mine was not doing that.

i just marked all forums read so only new ones should be bold, correct? we'll reverse engineer this and see if thats what i'm looking for. i'll let you know

Correct. Try avoiding the back button and hit the site links to navigate to see if that changes things for you.
