TFO to introduce “The Clouser” Fly Rod

Casting heavily weighted flies presents a challenge to many modern fly rod actions. For years I have been looking for a multi-species fly rod that puts “the ease” in casting weighted flies and sinking fly lines. The fly rod designers at Temple Fork Outfitters answered this challenge by developing The Clouser Series of Fly Rods.

By no means a single species fly rod; I have caught many species of fresh and saltwater fish with ease on these prototypes. Anglers that use weighted flies or split shot should find this series ideal, dry fly fishers will also benefit from the rods ability to deliver tight loops and specialty casts required to present the fly. The eight foot nine inch length enables the design to perform as expected; light in the hand and super sensitive…I like to say, “I can feel them breathing on the fly as they inhale it”.

Although not car door or tailgate proof, the TiCr coating in the finish that helps protect the rod from collisions with hooks, weighted flies. The attractive blue blank is easy on the eyes as are the three burled cork rings included on the grips; which has the added benefit of preventing wear from many hours of use. Hook keepers have been added and Lefty’s color coded alignment dot system allows for easy line size recognition. The four-piece design makes transportation easy.

I thank Temple Fork Outfitters for their outstanding job in developing this series of fly rods. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

Thank you, Bob, for sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm…both appear to be limitless.

For more information about The Clouser rods or any of our other fine products contact your local TFO dealer

I can't wait to cast one of these bad boys out :-D

They should be out in the stores by the end of the month

I have a TFO TICR rod and couldn't be happier with it. 8wt for steelies and bass, want to get some salmon on it too. Busted the tip off when it was iced over and their customer service is fantastic. Took less than 2 weeks to get back to me. Can't beat good service.

The clouser series sounds interesting. Always tough throwing lead and large flies. Technology is a great thing!

Hmm... A 5wt for streamer fishing, high water nymphing, and light bassing sounds pretty appealing.

I've already had my hands on that rod Fred. I didn't have time to line it up and cast it but it sure is pretty. My local fly shop said they really like it for bass and should be good for some of the smaller Erie tribs too. A sweet looking rod for sure.

Yeah i'm dying to try it out . I have been looking online to see some pics of it but no luck yet 😢 TFO deffintely needs to update thier website There is nothing on there about the rod even comming out soon ........

I praised the TiCrX blank in another thread recently but I'll do it here again.
I have built several rods using the TiCrX blanks ranging from 6wt to 10wt and they are absolute cannons when it comes to throwing line.

Probably the only other graphite blank that comes close in recovery speed is the Dan Craft FT series, however, the TiCrX are not nearly as brittle, which is a very good thing.

On top of the quality of blank TFO as a company is fantastic to deal with and the warranty is one of the best, if not the best in the industry.

I was sad to see Mr. Clouser leave St.Croix but he stepped in the winners circle with TFO and it seems that they are allowing him some more freedom on the design side.

It will be interesting to see the specs of this beautiful rod.
What is the weight of a 9' 6wt 4pc?
What modulus graphite?
What grade cork, and what guides do they use.
Tip flex, middle flex, or full flex?
Sage and Orvis put the rod weight on every rod. You can compare that way, rather than how fast talker the salesman is.
I can't wait to cast one when they hit the stores.
Cheers
