Mayor Adams Elevates Drought Level to Warning, Pauses Delaware Aqueduct Repair Project

It almost seems like having millions of people live hundred of miles away from potable water was a bad idea.
That ship sailed 1000 times over, give it up, what's done is done.

Save the Delaware with mass deportations of New Yorkers to Potter County. Plenty of potable water there.

If you have an issue with NYC being located where it is, just wait until you hear about the desert communities in Nevada and Arizona.

I am aware of the water issues there as well, it is also equally as stupid.

The location of NYC is hardly “equally as stupid” as desert communities. If you don’t like NYC, fine. But don’t pretend that having reservoirs for drinking water for large municipalities is anything like building large communities in a literal desert.

We are in the midst of a drought here in the East and Mid-Atlantic, but that is not comparable to a desert.

Why don’t they just drink from the East River or the Hudson?

That’s right, they polluted them.

My issue lies with the fact that they had great access to water, ruined it and then stole water and land from hundreds of miles away.

I guess New York is somewhat unique in that the Hudson's fall line is so far upstream. But I am not sure otherwise what or who is stupid? The Dutch who first settled it? The English who took it over? The state for not capping growth at some point? My daughter for living there? I think it is a pretty cool place as it was my choice to spend my birthday last week. Not for everyone and even my daughter recently moved out to Hoboken.
I can't help but think that desalination could be a solution to alleviate some of our water woes. Maybe coupled with nuclear power development for the energy needed to power those plants?

I will add that focused development is good for rural land we all cherish for our favorite pastimes. I am glad some people prefer city life! Cities are also essential to the economic development of a nation. I do share concerns about the building of second homes in places like the Poconos.

Well that sucks!
Looks like we will have to go through the draw down again next year.?
Fine by me ! Wadeable and floatable flows until mid Nov this year was a lot of fun!

I guess there’s no reason to fight to protect what’s left right?

Might as well pave over the whole region.
Now I never said that, can you find a quote from me to that effect? I was merely saying that he was late for that party. No more.

The pollution in Hudson River came from PCBs GE dumped far upstream from the city. Above Albany for that matter. NYC is the victim. There WAS plenty of potable water. And the East River is a tidal saltwater estuary.

I was not aware of the East River, not actually being a river. I do know that at one time it was incredibly dirty and polluted.

Regarding the Hudson, the NYC Delaware River drinking water projected was completed three years before people even know that PCBs were something that could make you sick.

Bottom line is this, city planners should have considered the ability to source clean water, then and now when allowing the city to grow.

Tides go up to Albany I believe. I don’t think they ever sourced water from the Hudson did they?
