Grannom predictions?

The Breeches will get a few size14 Black Caddis on warm winter day so this could be what some folks are seeing. Grannoms and Hendricksons usually are in full swing the first week of April if we get them. Some years one or both can be heavy only on the lower section The best hatches and fishing usually is on the upper sections where there are more wild fish , with clearer water and opening day can be very good dry fly fishing. However it can also be hit or miss. Also the time of day will vary on weather conditions. I have seen them as early as 10 am and as late as 5 pm. The bottom line is be ready with some emergers and drys.

I fear the prime Grannon time will be washed out in the centre/blair/huntingdon region. I got a couple of days of modest and moderate emergence on an "early" stream last week. They are predicting a total of 3 inches of rain, up to 4 inches in some locations through Wednesday. Grannoms emerge in rushing chocolate milk if the temperature is right. I hope the cold snap that will follow all the rain will put them off a bit longer.

forecast this afternoon. we already got 1.5-2 inches
"Additional rainfall between 2 and 3 inches is forecast
through Wednesday. Locally higher amounts up to 4 inches are
possible. The heavy rainfall forecast through midweek will
result in an increasing risk of flooding in the watch area."

Headed back to 6K again.

Greene Hills RV park has some pics and video on their Facebook page from yesterday of the J

I fished Fishing Creek on Sunday and came across a large hatch of BWOs, some blue quills, and believe it or not some Grannoms but don't get excited though because its going to be a long time until anything is looking up at the surfact again!

don't know. That video was taken before the peak, which hit exactly 10K. Spruce creek outfitters has some video on FB too

We're in Huntingdon county right now for the opening weekend. Obviously the little J is screwed. Still very flooded. Some smaller area streams will fish okay tomorrow. We fished some smaller wild streams yesterday. My son landed a beautiful wild brown from an unstocked (reproduction) classified stream we have never stepped foot on before. Might have found a gem......We are waiting on the truck right now to help stock a few local creeks.
