George Daniel - Tying and Fishing a Modified Murdich Minnow

Looks like a great pattern and one I'll definitely be including, since I'm in the process of revamping by warmwater boxes. Clouser Minnows are great, but they're not the panacea for all warmwater fishing. I can see where a "buoyancy neutral" fly like this would have an application. Good stuff from GD, as always!

Nice fly and cool idea with the foam. The fact that the fly suspends and glides with a little kick is that you have a fly to fish at a depth between the surface as with poppers and down deep with jig style and clouser flies.

Thanks for posting Dave.

Murdich minnow is one of my favorite smallie patterns. This is a nice variant, I will definitely tie a few. Thanks!

been tying several of his "favorite" streamer patterns recently. i've had good success with the
Michigan fry pattern but so far haven't gotten anything to eat the Coffey's sparkle minnow. I'll have to
tie up some of these and check them out.

I've been doing well just with simple wooly buggers with dumbell eyes for bass... usually brown or olive.

This fly is absolute killer on smallies on conestoga and swatara. Can’t wait to get on the susky with this pattern. I’m liking it better than clousers and poppers. Seems to get smacked as soon as it lands or on the first or second strip/pause. When you see it disappear you just strip set and bam!
