Excellent fishing, are you using poppers or is it too early for top water?

Nice fish Fred! I enjoy following your Snakehead on the fly adventures. The Bowfin is a really cool catch as well.

nice. Are you using a metal leader? I've had some snakehead break me off down the bay on my spin rod a few times and had to switch to a metal leader. It made me reluctant to try a fly rod for snakehead. based on your results, i may need to rethink trying for them with my 8wt setup.

Those would make some nice, tasty fillets, assuming they were not caught in the tidal Delaware or its tidal tribs.

I mainly use 25lb fluroflex but tried 25lb saltwater Mono last Wednesday and it worked fine . I’ve only been bit off once and that was from a bowfin. Here’s the video

How did they taste? The snakeheads, not the IPAs.

They say those snakeheads are good table fare.

They taste so good I have heard accounts of people in the potomac snagging tons of em and getting boukou bucks from local restaurants. Apparently flaky white meat not fishy at all.

So are wild browns, wild brookies, and largemouths and smallmouths. Wild trout are so much better table fare than their stocked cousins.
