Nice fish. That is pretty crazy to see that picture of Wharton. I saw East Fork road is closed below Marvin Run and will remain closed until culvert and road are fixed.

Krayfish you said the Tulpehocken is a tail water why on TCO stream report it’s saying mid and upper 70s for the temperature what am I missing 2 different bodies of water ?

Never mind I found my answer, it’s the depth and time of year I imagine it warms up late in the summer at only 50 ft deep

I fished South Platte at Glenn Canyon near Deckers in CO. Amazing fishery. By far my favorite. Numbers, size, scenery wild fish, consistent flows and Temps. #1 hands down. PS. I learned indy nymphing there by an up and coming guide and fly tyer at the time. Charlie Craven. Great memories.

Back here in PA: Lehigh, Delaware, and Lackawaxen. Though each for different reasons. Lehigh for proximity, accessibility, and scenery. Delaware for fish and water quality. Scenery too. Lackawaxen for quantity.

I fished the Tulpehocken and personally am not a fan. Not saying it's bad, just not quite what I am looking for. I know alot of folks swear by it.

I am leaving Wednesday for southwestern Va. Fishing the Smith river behind Philpott dam and the Dan behind Pinnacles Hydro dam. Both are bottom releases.
Know both of them quite well. Good luck. Absolutely love the Dan. You should try canoeing Townes Reservoir (1.5 mi trip) to where the Dan enters and fish that Special Reg area upstream from the mouth. Most don't because of the difficult access. Wild browns and bows for miles.

Do you mean Cheesman Canyon? Very enjoyable.

Tailwaters are highly productive.

Tailwaters can be very consistent.

Not my favorite type of fishing, my favorite fishing is large mountain freestones or small rivers.

In PA, there is the Delaware and then everything else.

I find that the scenery isn’t as nice on a tailwater as it is in a mountain freestone. Not to mention there almost always browns and rainbows.

Brings to mind the nymph hatches every spring on the YB that my boys described while they were attending school in Grantham.

I just got back from fishing the Smith and Dan river in Va. The Smith has 2,500 to 3,000 trout per mile. Most are wild Browns with some wild bows. The Dan is a very remote tail water with wild rainbows in the Grand Canyon of Va. This area is very rugged and should only be visited by those in decent health do to the steep mountain area.
