I know it's not fly fishing, but a lot of fly fishers are also deer hunters. Here's a great book called Legendary Deer Camps. Filled with lots of great old pics and info.

Another great read specific to hunting in north central PA is “Pioneer Life” by Philip Tomb, an early settler in the Pine Creek valley in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. That part of the state was still a true wilderness at the time.

FYI last name is spelled Tome for anyone looking it up.
Pioneer Life is one of my favorites. Some stories are a bit of a stretch. Tome’s was a hardcore pioneer for sure.
