I will be in State College/Bellefonte for the morning next Saturday. I’ll have time to fish for a few hours this is my first time fishing in this area. Just looking for some advice on which stream to hit for a first trip
(Penns, Spring, Little J, Spruce, etc). I’m use to fishing the western PA streams.

I would agree with the Spring Creek recommendation. It’s the closest stream to where you will be with limited time and it usually provides some great fishing.

At this time of year, unless you fish evening it can be tough. These streams often shut down during the day and turn on right at dark.

By all means check it out and do some nymphing. You can catch fish that way. Just recognize its a big change from what your used to and playing the timing game is a big part of it.

Fish next to which ever hatchery your will be closer to on Spring, it doesn't matter where you go, everywhere on spring holds fish

To add to what Pcray said about tough afternoons, if you are lucky enough to get a steady rain mid-day, run a streamer. I love Spring Creek in the rain.

+1 for Spring

Yes, and much of the watershed is gorgeous to walk...
