Yep.What a wonderful attitude to have.
What other native species should we do away with? Rattlesnakes? Bees? Vutures?
Freeman run is a tributary to the First Fork of the Sinnemahoning. It’s (the First Fork) around 30 miles of stocked trout with great access on both public and private land. It also has a Keystone Select section and Stevenson Reservoir, which allow for year round trout fishing.Sacrificial sections of water bodies for light recreational activities by fringe fishing people would seem to help overall in keeping flyfishing a respected activity of the general population.

No one is hurting for stocked trout fishing opportunities in that area.
Yes, this would be wise, I think. Maybe "ALL" is overstated? Maybe not...but I have no problem w/ stocking the lower reaches of Kettle or Pine. But stocking Freeman Run-what? Why!? It's just idiotic.Amen. I recognize that I'm in the minority, but I'd be OK with ALL of the streams in Potter and nearby counties coming off the stocking list, but even if you LOVE you some stocked trout, there are SCADS of opportunities here and we need not be stocking over Class A streams for a research study whose data likely wouldn't surprise anyone (and whose data might not even be used because the return to the stocking list isn't about "science" but social issues entirely (namely guys who simply could never have enough miles of stocked trout water)).
I'd say 2-3 more pages and 4-5 more "well-liked members" complaining about the thread and I know its not in danger yet because nobody has evoked he who shall not be named yet.OK Dave, when is enough enough?
Does anyone have the history on this?Isn't stocking already ended there? I thought it was all about possibly stocking it again.
2020Does anyone have the history on this?
When was Freeman Run declared Class A?
I haven't really noticed that to be the case. Not saying you're wrong, I just haven't seen it.Some seem to have more freedom than others!
Yes, I gave a little history in comment #38 but will give you a little more since maybe you missed it. Freeman Run sections 03 and 04 were voted as Class A in fall 2020. Stocking was supposed to cease in those sections as a result. However, A special activities permit was granted for Kids derby for spring 2021 on section 03 at Austin Dam Memorial Park. That derby was never held. I heard John Harmon had disagreement with the park people but don't know how true that was . But anyway, 2021 section 03 and 04 were NOT stocked. In 2022 the kids derby was given for section 04 behind Austin School. 600 rainbow trout were stocked for that derby in 2022,2023,2024, and 2025.Does anyone have the history on this?

I could be wrong, but I can envision Freeman Run getting a "little" more pressure after being brought up here, no?
Point well taken. 👍I have zero doubt, but that's not the fault of anyone here. That's the fault of the people who are behind the insistence that it needs to be stocked and the PFBC for entertaining that notion.
I agree. This hoopla may make some people curious and give it a try. Once. It's a nice stream, but access isn't really that great and it doesn't presently get much attention at all, so any pressure it receives would probably be short-lived.
