Hey all paflyfishers,
Some other folks and I are in the process of creating a new online Literary Fly Fishing Magazine. The magazine is called Rise Forms: Fly Fishing's Literary Voice. We are looking to publish poetry, fiction, essay, non-fiction (science, history, personal narrative) and also original artwork (painting, drawing, prints). We're working to get some "name" authors to submit, but we're also looking for submissions from up and coming or emerging talent. I thought that some of the paflyfish.com forum members might be interested in submitting. Admittedly, the current payment rates for accepted submissions are low, but we'd like to change that in the future if we can. The real advantage to being published is exposure. Rise Forms is not live yet, but we hope to be by fall 2010. However, we are currently taking submissions. There is a temporary webpage set up, where you can learn more: Rise Forms Magazine http://riseforms.com/ Thanks, Anthony

Neat. Sometimes i like to get away from the "How to" and "where to" articles, one of the reasons I enjoy The Drake and the The Fly Fish Journal.
I will be sure to check Rise Forms out when it goes live

That's the idea. Not that there's anything wrong with those other types of articles - but they are well represented in print and online.

Rise Forms does offer some payment- but right now it's more of a thank you (see below). We hope to change this, if/when we can get sponsors and advertising (right now any payments are out of pocket). The plan is to roll any advertising income into higher payments, to make the payments much more significant. But that will all depend on what happens. ez,
Good luck with your venture. I'm interested in possibly participating and have a couple articles about saltwater FFing with accompanying artwork that might be of interest. Bump this thread later this year when your site is up and running. DaveW

Although the magazine isn't "live" yet we are taking submissions now for the first "Issue". The tentative deadline for the first issue submissions is June 15 (there is some wiggle room on that). So - if you are interested please visit the submission page and submit. If you're not sure about whether your things would be a good fit, there is a Query page where you can submit the idea. Hoping to see your stuff come in! I'd love to see some things come in from folks at this forum.

Not bring smart, but is it okay to advertise our business on the general forum or do we need to register with PAFF?

I can assure you that this is not a "business", at least in the sense that it has any income. I have nothing to gain financially. I posted here, only to provide an opportunity for folks that might like to participate. I know there are talented writers and artists that frequent these forums and I just wanted to let them know that there is a chance to share that talent with others. However, being sensitive to this issue of advertising (and hijacking the forum), I corresponded with Dave Kile prior to posting to make sure that he was ok with it.

If you would like to advertise on the site please contact me.
ezpickins asked about looking for some contributing writers for what he his doing. I am cool the request. I would suggest you email or pm. Probably not a lot to discuss more than that.
