Trailer is registered in Maine.

For pontoon boat's the hull # is not "on" the boat itself but rather on the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin that comes with all new boats (or at least it's not anywhere on the boat that I've found yet.) On a hard boat the hull# is "stamped" on the boat, so its easier. The previous owner got it when he bought it new directly from Scadden(5 yrs ago) and gave it to us when we bought it from him. Registering and/or titling a pontoon boat is optional, but it can be done. The easiest way to get on the water is just with the launch permit. Registering and titling can supposedly help with theft issues and proof of ownership. T...

PaFlyFish General Forum:: Lehigh River Stocking Association Poker Tournament
Hopefully this is the proper place for me to post this. I just wanted to let everybody know that we will be having a Texas Hold Em' Tournament on September 11th to benefit the Lehigh River Stocking Association. This Fundraiser will be held at Grouse Hall Rod and Gun Club in Ironton, 15 minutes from Allentown. If anybody needs directions I will be happy to provide them to you. Having this event will put a big boost in the amount of fish that go into the Lehigh in the Spring. Hope to see some of you out there and even if you can not make it I hope you can pass this along to your poker friends.

Thanks,
LRSABecker

A lot depends on the species of fish you plan to target. Echo makes a very nice rod for the price, however their rods are on the fast side and can cause casting problems for a beginner. But don't let that stop you from getting the best rod for the money.
Another good choice is Cabela's lst rods, they are excellent rods, a fairly fast, but may not have the casting issue you would with a stiffer rod.
Never used a Reddington or Fenwick, but my buddy as a very old Fenwick 5wt that he loves so you probably can't go wrong with a Fenwick.

Forbes Forest is actually loaded with brookie streams all along the Laurel and Chestnut Ridges. Is there a particular area you want to be in? Forbes is one of the several patchwork state forests, meaning it is not contiguous in all parts. From South to North, I'll throw out a few streams that are either in the forest or nearby: Quebec Run, Jones Mill Creek, Roaring Run, Falls Creek, Blue Hole Creek, Rasler Run, Camp Run, Shafer Run headwaters, Upper Indian Creek, Lynn Run, Mill Creek headwaters, Can't recall those above Ligonier.

Questions?

wetnet - Just an FYI...

That Streamflex rod that jdaddy is offering for $200 is the exact same model rod that Scott Nellins from the UK team used back in 2007. I got to try Scott's, and it was terrific!

$200 for that rod is a very fair price, and I know jdaddy - I'll vouch for him (not that he needs it).

If I didn't already have my Sage 99 4wt, I'd be all over that deal if you didn't want it.

Conservation:: The two recent freshwater oil spills-Terro.......????
Two oil spills in freshwater recently. One of 200, 000 gallons that could end up in the Great Salt Lake in Utah. Great Salt Lake, 37th largest lake on earth. Then 800,000 gallons of oil into Kalamazoo River which leads in Lake Michigan.

800k is a pretty big spill. So......anyone think this is some guys who realized the best and perhaps easiest way to screw with the US is to just start cracking open their energy pipes. Pollutes air, water, and land, and undermines the economy. Thoughts?

^ Very nice one. Any stats? As was mentioned before, colder months produce well, during the day and at night. Before sunset and around 11pm-2am are when the beast females come out in the late fall. They love rock bass. When the water is low and hot, I rarely catch them. As the water levels rise in the fall and winter they move into smaller branches of the rivers that may have been too shallow to fish in the summer.

They will come up to the surface for a streamer, but I don't think they really like that approach. In the famous Precision Trolling for Walleye Book most of all those fish liked to come up to the reef runners/rapalas, etc from the depths. They like twister tails or power grubs to be swimming. That is when you reel a grub with a consistent retrieve and not jig it. Attempt to swim it in various depths of the water column; they will stop it dead, when they hit. Some will nip the tail and they will come back ag...

Gear Talk:: No question, just wanted to brag about my find....
I talked to Rachel in the shop and she said quite a few of the vexis have been returned. I also read a review on the reel that stated the fit and finish were so good that one grain of sand caused the spool to lock up. They are using some type of ceramic and delrin drag system that is new and may not be perfected yet. I got the Galvan from Silver Crk Fly Shop and he also had sold the vexis and had clients that had issues with the reel.

The one Wayne had was loaded w/ SA GPX line. $325 reel with $69 line for $232 was hard to pass up but I got cold feet. My understanding is that Galvans are all but bullet proof. I'm not too sure of the drag on the OB model because it's different than the Torque and Rush models. Very simple looking, super durable, great reviews and lifetime warranty.

Well Gents thanks for all the tips, and information! I have been steelheading for only 16 years, and I used to fish PA back in the late 90’s. The experience of fishing the Alley is not what it used to be! I have turned my back on lot of the fishing for steelhead in the Great Lakes Region over the past several years. I used to fish for those pelletheads from September to May. I appreciate the heads up about going to Erie. I primarily fish Lake Ontario tribs that are off the beaten path. Sure I go fishless in many trips, but I don’t fish around many ppl anymore. I will be traveling to your part of the state for trout, and no matter what happens with the weather we will be there. I’m traveling with a good ole friend of mine that used to participate in trail care for PA. I will be happy just hooking a trout a day while I’m there. I hope we get to use our pontoon boats while we are there. I know the weather can be a fickle...

Arrived at 6AM at Falling Springs Branch Heritage Section. First time visiting the stream. Was hoping to see some rising fish during the Trico activity - very limited activity. It was 78 degrees outside when we left Lancaster at 4:30, and was quickly in the 80's when we arrived at the stream around 6.

The water was clear and cold - 58 degrees. The tricos were out and about but no fish rising to the activity. We got skunked and left around 10AM.

Met some other guys on the stream that had not been there since the 80's. They reported that it was great to see the stream in such great shape and that alot of work had been done to improve the stream since that time. They reported zero fish caught and limited activity as well.

Beautiful stream - hope to be back there sometime soon when it cools down a bit - maybe that will help...
