This is my favorite picture so far in 2018.  My good friend caught this freestone stream donkey on a pheseant tail dropper fly in some heavy pocket water.  A great memory on a beautiful day!!!

I don't think I've ever run across this colloquialism. Is it to be read freestone "stream donkey", or freestone stream "donkey"? What does it mean? Analogous to a pool boss or shark or something different?

 Re: Donkey
I first heard the term on the Upper Delaware system referring to broad shouldered stubborn big brown trout that when hooked, go to the bottom of the pool and shake their heads refusing to budge. Up there, they would be tailwater " donkeys;" this fish in its tiny Mountain stream is a Freestone stream "donkey."
