With the deformed gill plate and the size, looks like a stockie to me...

If it's the place I think it is, I'd bet it's wild. Wild brookies have dull colors in that area and can grow larger than average because the streams are more fertile than most of the state. If stocked it would have to have been by a landowner. I never fished there myself, it's all on private land. Only read about it in a book.

I have a hunch I know exactly where this fish is from... stocked trout swim into this coldwater sanctuary... there are some wild fish in there but a few swim up from a larger waterway that does not support trout. I am pretty certain about this because stockies pile up at the mouth of this trib. I don't find it difficult at all to tell the difference between a wild and stocked brook trout. That fish looks like a typical stocked trout. I have found Chester county brook trout to be just as colorful as anywhere in the state.

I did not know stocked trout were that far downstream on the larger water. Certainly a possibility. Hard to say for sure only seeing half the fish.

Obviously I disagree with that last sentence but that could just be the streams I've caught natives might be different than yours.
