Yes, BS has many birding fans and some rare species are seen there. Personally, I cringe when I see the number of herons along the FFO stretch (esp in winter). However, I think the increased number of anglers may deter some of the herons. Moreover, I think the restoration may afford the fish some additional protection from avian predators. In the past, herons would wade right up the center of the stream and nail the trout that were crowded under clumps of vegetation. With the water deeper and with more overhead cover now, I think this will make things tougher for the herons.
