This is a very weedy area with a dense retaining wall of shrubs and practically no bank.  Overhead clearance is completely non existent. However, the fish never see a fly. You really can't cast -- not even a roll cast will work. The trick is to squat down and naturally drift a fly downstream with very subtle mending. Lots of Browns here. The area is stocked, but some of these guys must be holdovers.

Let me explain the grass. This fellow kept knocking my rod in to some very nasty nettles (with his head). I finally gave up on posing him and gave him a "time-out" in this tuft of grass. Very fiesty hombre! He measured 17" -- I'm assuming he's a holdover.  There are a few fish like this in the headwaters of Buck Run. Fishing in there with a long rod is nightmarish -- I'm really serious about the nettles.
