I felt fortunate to get into a few wild brownies on a Lancaster County freestone stream one weekend in December. Lived here all my life and this was the first I ever fished this creek and the water temp was a chilly 44 degrees. Defintely a spot to hit next season.

This is one of my favorite spots on a Lancaster County freestoner.

I have really had some luck lately with bigger rainbows. This 18incher came from a Cumberland Valley Limestone Creek. It took a size 12 cress bug pattern and put on a nice arial display.

I could not resist the urge to get out again on this unseasonably warm December day. I hit the N. Branch again with a good fishing buddy. We both caught several fish, and we each took one over 18 inches using tandem nymph rigs fished deep with a thingamabobber. Here is my big boy for the day, a 19 inch male Rainbow. I will post his once he sends me the pick. He got a 21 inch hog of a Rainbow, which happened to be his first 20+inch trout outside of steelhead fishing. What a great day!!!!

I thought I hooked into a larger brown at Valley Creek when I drifted a heavy bugger down into a deep undercut tree/pool. This is what came to hand. I think its a fallfish but I am not sure.  It fought significantly harder than a brown of the same size.

I had a very nice day out on the N. Branch of the Potomac today. It was topped off by this 20inch male rainbow. I miss dry fly fishing, but I love hunting season. It sure leaves the streams to true fly fishers
