I continue my quest to explore new water.   This fish came from a limestone spring in the Cumberland Valley.   The conditions were perfect for a streamer bite.

I know folks catch them bigger than this all the time up there, but this was definately more than I wanted to handle with my 8wt switch.   This 35 inch 19 lb hen took a black bugger in the back of a pool and gave me quite a workout on the Salmon River.   I know they get a bad rep, but if you hit the run early enough during a week day, it can be a lot of fun.

Over the last couple of weeks, the hopper bite has been steady on our local limestone streams.   It was fun watching this dark brown rising to a size 12 yellow stimulator in a swift run next to an undercut.

The water was low and slow this fall on the Savage.   I had to drop down to a 12 foot 7X leader with a size 22 olive to fool this beautiful 16 inch Savage River Brown.   I admit to using a filter to draw out some of the colors on this picture, it was a little washed out by the sunlight.
