Floated the Yough today from Dawson to Layton via canoe. Rented canoe from Hazelbakers. http://www.hazelbakerscanoes.com/
Good deal for $20- and if you have your own, they will ride you and your vessel for $10. It was an 8 mile float. The water was in the bushes a few days ago but has cleared greatly and the level is now near normal. The smallmouth fishing was awesome today and I will definitely be back. Caught 7-8 nice sized smallies and they fought well. Used buggers- mostly the dark ones were successful. I would have probably done way better if I had someone to help work the boat. As when I caught one- I drifted thru some of the best spots bringing the darn fish in. Most of the river has a good current. Got poured on for 15 minutes but that makes you appreciate the sunshine even more. The second was missed part of his mouth- looks like he was caught before.

Acristic, the smallies are also evident in Shaner. Stay with the Dark Bugger. Wading is tricky there.
