The Yough was flowing at 1200 cfs on Wednesday with water temps at 60 degrees above Ohiopyle. My brother and I headed out in hopes of hitting the Green Drakes. The bug activity was decent and we had fish rising from about 7:30-dark. I caught a few fish on a Copper John and we both had action on a Coffin Fly. My brother caught a 22" dandy that made the night.
We came down with Yough Fever and headed out again Thursday night. Water dropped to 900 cfs and the temp was still 60 degrees. Not as many bugs but the coffin flies still produced a pig, I landed a 21" fatty right at dark on a coffin fly. Pictures of the fish are on my blog. www.grobe33.blogspot.com

Very nice. I bet it was hard to get on the water with the crowds.
The flows are finally leveling out--looks like it's going to be a good week.

The yough really fell to a nice level in the last 24 hours - and I think I can hear the fish calling for slate drakes. I'm outta here.

They just bumped the flows up to 1650 from the dam thanks to the 2 inches of rain that fell in Garrett county over the weekend. I was hoping they were going to let it slide.
So much for a week of nice water. They ought to start bringing it down towards the end of the week though, so we've that to look forward too. Dryflyguy: I hope you weren't standing mid-river when that extra 1350 cfs hit.

YRG -
Luckily, no. But that's as fast as I can ever remember that river coming up. I had a few chores to do, before heading down there. And by the time I biked up into my honey hole, I didn't start fishing until 4. And it was pretty good for 2.5 hours. There were some slates coming off, and fish rising to them here and there. I caught a dozen by 6: 30 - when the rising shut down, and I noticed it was getting harder to wade around. I headed to the bank and could tell right away there it had risen a good bit. And by the time I got my gear packed up and started biking back out - I started seeing a good bit of white water.

DFG, glad you found some fish. Looks like that window is over for now.
