The holiday season is over and the chaos at the restaurant I work at has died down, so I decided to hit Valley. I got there around 8 and didnt start fishing till 9, worked my way from the covered bridge to the turnpike bridge. More a searching trip to scout out the stream a little more. But I was able to land 6 fish and the biggest being my guess around 16". Air temp was around 16 when i started and warmed up to around 30 by the time i left, Water temps 42. I didnt see any fish rising like the past few times ive been out. Fish the deep holes and watch your line. Very subtle hits, I probably missed alot of fish. Ive had success with sz18-22 zebra midges, sz 20-22 bwo.

Oh and may I saw LETS GO MOUNTAINEERS

That's THE fish on valley, at least in my experience and if you were out there at 16 degrees you deserve every fish you caught. Well done.

Thanks man, i've been working alot at my job since it was the holiday season and i've had alot of thing to think about so it was very therapeutic. But I would rather have the 16degree weather and noone out then the weather like today and the creek swamped with other fisherman.

Nice job. Gonna piggyback on your report. Fished Valley today from about 11-1:30. First trip of the year for me, beautiful day and once I figured things out the fishing was good too. In the last half hour I had 6 hits on a #16 BHHE. Flat-out missed the first four (one was about 12", bummer) but brought the last two to hand, both about 8". Guess I was a bit rusty, water was super clear and i could see exactly when they ate the fly and still missed those first hits. Speaking of clear water I could not believe the number of suckers I saw!

Thought the stream seemed in good shape overall, sure there were some changes but looked like a net positive to me.

There were lots of midges in the air, they were super tiny.
Saw a few risers.

Good start to the new year!
