Decided to head to Tully for morning outing!
Landed in parking lot (Papermill) around 8:30 surprised to find it MT!
Geared up and decided to head down stream, fished my way down without any success until I saw another guy fishing upstream from overpass! We exchanged Hello's and then I hooked up, 12-13" bow, surprised that fight was very limited, couple head shakes and then it was over! Proceed to land 2/others both on olive emerger, other on bead head brassie!
Saw few other guys come in below me, so I decided to head back up stream to flats (above the papermill plant). Walk 1/2mile up and fished back down, wind was really bad, put large dimples on water!
Saw midges on surface (when wind wasn't howling)! Got to point where wind died down, switched to dry, throw out BIG OLD caddis, hoping to catch one sleeping at wheel, nothing!
Switched back to BB, and ended day with 3 4 3. Not bad for day off!

Fished Tully today at Paper Mill, Reber's Bridge, and Waterworks. Water is absolutely fridgid! Saw lots of midges but just three rises from 10:00 to 2:00. Talked to one gent at Reber's Bridge who said he nymphed a few and another fellow at the Waterworks who got half a dozen on nymphs early. Me zip.

I'm thinking ten years ago I would of said that but I think my age is catching up with my enthusiasm for cold weather fishing LOL.

"How often does that happen?"

Actually never but I wanted to appear to have human failings!

Seriously though, and happily for my ego, not very often.

I didn't suspect so. Based on your years of fly fishing experience and some of the pics you have posted, you didn't strike me as someone who takes a skunk very often...

When it happens it often brings me back to earth and I say to myself "well your not so special after all!"

Went last night w/ my dad. The water was definitely cold, but the trout were rising pretty consistently. I think they were taking Griffith gnats (small, size 18,20 black bodies w/ white wings? I'm not very good at this stuff). I had no griffith gnats with me. I wanted to tie off a few before going up, but had too much homework and never got around to it.

Only ran into one other guy, at Paper Mill. He said he usually fished the Palesades, but there were too many guys there. What the crap? Its usually the other way around! He was able to pick a few off on a bugger.

So, who was at the Tully today and how did you do? I fished below Reber's Bridge this afternoon for an hour or two and caught fish. Some stoneflies coming off, no rises.
