A few stones and a lot of midges at the Paper Mill Flat. Caught a chunky tiger trout, my first.

I was there on Wednesday afternoon. The surface was literally covered with shucks from midges which had hatched earlier in the day. Still fairly decent activity on top with fish taking midges in the film. Classic dorsal fin ...... tail rises. I caught seven (6 browns and 1 rainbow). Water temp was 52 degrees. I was fishing a #18 GG with numerous variations (classic, orange hot spot, peacock herl collar and flashback) #20 zebra midges as a dropper off the bend of the GG. Five of them took the midges and I caught two on the GG. It was a beautiful afternoon, I will be back!

I'll be out tomorrow w/ a kid from my church (he just moved to PA, hasn't fly fished since moving here). I filled up a midge box for him. Looking forward to the trip.

I was on the water in the Palisades section from around 1:30 - 4. There were tons of midges (size 24ish), a bunch of black stoneflies, and even the sporadic caddis. There were a few rising fish, but I couldn't convince them to come up for anything I presented. I did manage to fool one nice Bow with a Prince nymph. There were quite a few fisherman on the water today. I hope everybody enjoyed the great weather as much as I did.

Hit Paper Mill from 7:15am to 10:00am. Landed two and lost 3 on a Zebra Midge. Midges EVERYWHERE and the trout were rising! Lots of fun!

This was one of the few times I couldn't get out on a Friday or Saturday. Color me jealous. Especially if I can't get out tomorrow!

I had the opportunity today to christen a new rod on the Tully today (7'-9" 3 weight TFO Finesse built by FrequentTyer). Only 45 minutes to fish, but I caught 7, lost a few more. All caught on a micro-caddis larva in a riff below Reber's Bridge.
4 of the fish were decent size in the 13"-14" range, and one that topped 16" (first fish of the day). Felt like a 20" fish on that whispy rod. Thanks Mike, super rod.
