Fished with 3 other guys on Penns and other streams in the area but mostly Penn's. Weather was great, sunny all 3 days but VERY windy. Water temps ranged from high 40's in the morning to mid 50's by evening. Water is low. Great fishing height now but more like you would see in late May or early June. They and we need rain.

Bugs were everywhere. There were grannoms, hendrickson's, blue quills, tan caddis and the occasional sulfur (or at least that's what they looked like to us). I got almost all of my fish on the surface. No need to nymph because fish were rising most of the time. Good surface activity around 11 and then around 7 in the evening.

No spinner falls to speak of, maybe it was too cold yet.

A good time was had by all. We got some nice fish and busted a few balls along the way. Doesn't get any better than that.

How many fish do you think you 3 caught? What is the fracking activity like around the area, lot of water trucks? Hear any compressors? Wonder if water is coming out of Bald Eagle or about to.

Saw no fracking activity at all. We fished in the Coburn area. No idea how many fish we caught but we did quite well. Caught fish everyday and some were nice browns. Yesterday I did hear from a friend of mine that lives up there. Tunnel road was closed due to a bad brush fire at Stillhouse Road. I'm waiting to get an update today as to how bad but he said there were 5 companies there when he called. It was quite windy and since I was once a volunteer firefighter, I can tell you wind is not their friend.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, this wind and dry forest is baaaaaaaaaaad news. I saw a small forest fire getting started in teh east and DCNR was all over it like browns on green drakes. Dry forest and lots of gas development....not good.

"No need to nymph"....I guess you didn't get to give that rod a good workout then?

As a matter of fact, I didn't. But it looks sweet and I'll give it a workout very soon!
