Nice writeup. I've gotta get back there one of these days. Only been there once or twice and have lots of exploring to do yet!

Nice 1wt! I need to do some reserch and find other access points other than the bottom end. Its a long walk up the creek to better fishing And takes forever because I cant just walk upstream without casting every 15-20 ft. I swear its a sickness!

upper access (the only other one) is along Bruce Road at the Hairpin bend. You will see the signs. THe road dead ends at the creek at a property not open to fishing so don't go past the bend.
You can get to Bruce Road by taking Piney Hill to Kennedy left on Kennedy and follow through Toms Run and up the hill to Bruce. LEft on Bruce to the bend. Park, walk, fish downstream.

Thanks Maurice. I saw that on google earth but wasnt sure if there was parking available. Do you have to fish down stream? Is upstream private?

At the bottom of the path is where the FFO starts and goes downstream to Bridgeton. You will see the wire and a bunch of signs there. The wire as shown by 1wt is down at present but is scheduled to be put back up I believe this weekend coming. There is a pool upstream that can be fished before running into the property that is posted. (at least until March closes the non special reg area.) The guy is a friend of the fishermen by allowing us to take the stocking truck onto his property to load the float barrels and do the stockings but is not interested in providing parking on the the property there. HE does own the parcel at the bend across from the path where a few more cars can be parked.

Is the guy at the bottom of Bruce Rd the same as who's been there for like, forever? I remember being able to drive down and park right at the old bridge back in the day....opening day that place would be a zoo, cars parked bottom to top all along the road.

No that guy croaked a few years ago...the new landowner we met and struck a deal to allow us to enter for stocking purposes to avoid taking fish over the steep hill.
He don't live there except on weekends and usually is test firing guns which is why he is discouraging trespassers.(fishermen)

So, does that mean you can't work your way upstream from his property, or fish the water there at the old bridge, even if you come up out of the FFO? How big is his piece of land? It's probably been 20 odd years since I've been on that stretch, we always walked the tracks upstream to meet up with my dad's buddies on opening day, some nice water up thru there. Was neat to watch the other fella build his house around those old train cars over the years, interesting place, lots of memories along that creek.

Yeah, I wouldn't advise fishing up through his property for fear of jeopardizing the access we have there.

I fished the ffo project today. Only ran into one other guy. I got skunked but missed a bunch on a marabou muddled streamer. Plenty of fish but lots of skinny water (never fished here before) in between. I did see a few risers but didn't see many bugs. I fished up from bridgeton road. Prolly shoulda walked farther for better water. Seems as though anyone who knows what they are doing coulda caught several....I need a flyfishing lesson. Beautiful day to get out, sun made it feel much warmer then it was. Thankful to have the day off.

The yellow cable that marks the upper boundry of the FFO section is back up in place.
