Laurel Hill Creek, Somerset Co., 07/26/2013
From Pittsburgh, PA
Gauge was 1.3 ft and 100 cfs relatively low and clear. Temps low 70s, sunny and clear. Water temps were cool and warmer in pools. Wet waded through the state park walking along Hemlock Trail then bouncing across the creek where the trail starts to move away from the creek. The other side of the creek opposite Hemlock Trail is more accessible for 90% of the stream I found on my way back.
I havnt fished this often but have found it productive each time. On this Friday, I was alone on the stream 10 am - 2 pm. There were fish flashing in the deep pools but the productive areas were in the fast riffles and runs. There were alot of rocks 1/2 showing and fish were rising to white spinners. I tied on a pheasant tail with a little weight and had two rainbows in the fast water.
This is a great stream relatively accessible, no doubt there is some steep rocky trail sections but the stream is very accessible.
