Fished the Lackawanna River for the first time yesterday. Fished from the Deposit St. Bridge up a bit past the power station from about 11:30-6:00.

That stream is polluted with fishy looking water.

Bugs everywhere. Some sort of small dark caddis, what I took to be some sort of blue quill and midges. My bug ID sucks, so take that all with a grain of salt.

Fished with a buddy and neither of us landed, hooked or even saw a fish. Absolutely mystified. Tried every pattern and tactic I could even dream would work.

Can't wait to get back up there.

If you go up there soon and have a day like you had on the Little J, you and I are going to have a problem.

I fished it for the first time on 3/13 for literally a half hour that I had after a work meeting and had the same experience. I fished the section above Winton St. Looked great, lots of nice holes, lots of bugs (saw the same blue quill-looking flies) and I couldnt move anything...I am sure that has a lot to do with inexperience but I am definitely looking for a reason to get back.

Now you're making me want to get back up there this weekend.

I'd be interested to know how the water temps have moved this week, if at all.

Its a difficult river for sure.

Fish it during the sulphurs and you might be surprised.

Fish populations are high throughout the river, yes?

Generally, yes. But, the trout move seasonally and sometimres more often. The key is to fish & move untill yu find pods of fish. Some hole might be barren while others are hot spots. And that changes often.

I'm planning on hitting the river this Saturday, barring a major rain event. I'll try to remember to post my results.

Well, apparently they move out of the upper half of the TT section during early March.
