Fished Clarks Creek today from 10-5:30.
Weather: 46 and sunny. Water temp: COLD! (No thermometer) Stream conditions: Crystal Clear Hatches: Small olives, LOTS of midges. This was the first time fishing Clarks Creek and I was impressed with the creek. There are alot of log jams up and down the creek making fishing challenging but rewarding. Saw alot of fish and I even managed to catch a few despite spooking alot of due to crystal clear water. Ended up with 5 trout(2 browns 2 brookies and 1 rainbow and lost a half dozen) and 11 chubs on everything from buggers to dries. I would have caught more trout if I didn't catch so many chubs that spooked every trout in the hole. But it's always great exploring new water.

I also fished Clarks today from 11-5. I had a feeling I was fishing behind some one even though I never saw anyone. Looks like Delta Dog was the culprit....:). I got to use my new rubber net a couple of times, with long releases on several. Saw some action on top with a few caddis and BWO coming off. Started at the gun range parking lot and fished down about 3/4 mile. Dog, is this where you were fishing? Black bugger worked best. Caught one on top with a small orange ant......hmmm. As noted in another thread, the down trees sure have changed some of my favorite stretches, and not for the better for us fisherpersons.

No BIGGIE I fished the bottom end up stream about 1 mile. LOL...Thanks Maurice I forgot about that one. That rainbow was on a little black bugger. I saws 2 guys hiking streamside up stream one at 1:30 the other around 3 spooking fish the whole way up.

Well, I guess Delta and I covered most of the FF section today. I expected to see more fishermen today since it was pretty nice out there.

I bet that bow was from the fall stocking based on the fins. It has been in there a while based on the fin condition.

Your lucky. I saw groups of 8-10 chubs in a few shallow streaches. The first 2 or 3 were caucht on a size 16 GG. They were very aggresive I even had one chase my bugger about 20ft as I was trying to keep it away from him.

I don't think I have ever pull in a chub on Clarks. I have seen plenty of suckers. I guess Delta will soon learn how to avoid the chubs, but for the first timer on the creek he did alright.
