Salmon River/ Eastern Lake O tribs
From Central New York
Spawning activity is going strong. The steady water flow on the Salmon River have helped get them set up in most spawning areas including diversions off the Wires and Trout Brook area.
As for the tribs, they are in good shape and most are holding fish in fair numbers. Steady snow melt has helped the tribs to this point. All fish we've caught in the tribs are fresh or actively spawning, no drop backs yet.
Swinging flies is very productive right now, Intruders, Clouser type patterns and the bugger patterns are working. Also the trout streamers rusting away in your fly box will work good too. For the spinning angler, eggs in blue and pink, can't beat them.
There seem to be a fair number of spawned out steelhead and these keep us busy most of the time. They will be around for another month or so, till the water starts getting too warm for them. In the mean time they are the main players here.
