The spawn is over and the trout are hungry. This rainbow took a BWO...Yes, I know the rainbows spawn in the spring, This tells me the Rainbows held over.

I believe the PAFBC rainbows are fall spawners, but I could be wrong about that.
I know the manny well. It's a nice stream.

This fish was stocked in the spring... The Manny is the best stream in SE PA...And I can prove it. A wild brown trout photo below.

That does not prove it. Why do you say that fish is wild?

I have been fishing the Manny for over 25 years and it is full of wild fish. I can tell the difference. Below is a photo of one of the many wild trout that are growing up in the Manny. I catch lots of wild fish in the 12-15 inch range every year. Another example of a wild brown in the net.

In what ways is the Manatawny the best stream in Southeastern PA? Because it has wild trout? I am having trouble swallowing this.

Don't take my word for it, the Stroud Water Study of SEPA water tells it all.
Are there better water, yes, like Pine and Beiber Creeks. Both are headwaters of the Manatawny Creek and are rated Class A. The West Branch of the Perkiomen is a Class A stream and the Manatawny is rated higher.

That study also seems to rate Pickering Creek significantly higher than Valley Creek and as far quality of fishing and wild trout numbers go that is not the case.

Study is based on water Quality and Macroinvertebrate life. There are other study that relate to wild fish populations. The Manny is rated the highest in this sampling. It also has a large population of wild fish due to its size and habitat. Valley might be rated lower then Pickering for quality but might have a larger wild trout population due to size and habitat.

In addition to the incredible diversity and abundance of macros in the Mannatawy, it has a very large % of non-posted, open water. It is relatively uncrowded and you can always find water to yourself. It is stocked heavily in the main section by PFBC and gets a lot of supplemental stocking from local clubs. Stay away from those areas and you find a lot of wild fish and open water.
If you really want to learn a lot about many of the SE PA watersheds check this out: http://www.stroudcenter.org/research/ ... cts/schuylkill/index.shtm This will make peoples head asplode but I kind of look at the Manny like a little Penns. Huge macro counts, diversity, gets warm in the Summer, blows out quickly (should have saw it during Irene and Lee!). Plus it has Union Jacks and the Tiki Bar on it. You can sit streamside and pound SOLID beer while waiting for risers. Been there, done that.
