It's true. Fishing has been had on the Yough of late--good fishing.
Lots of bugs around right now, but if you're looking for rising fish, evening seems to be the time to get on the water. Morning fish are eating nymphs and streamers. Attractor nymphs between 12 and 18 depending on the water you're fishing paired with caddis or stones seems to work well for the bobber rigs and streamers in all shapes and sizes are getting fish as well. The afternoon fish have been mostly small (and I know I'm pushing the limits of believability here by coupling the idea of a fishable river with sunny days but . . .) with all of the sun we've had. You could bring tan caddis-16, BWOs-tiny, Slate Drakes (just getting started)-10, Cahills (orange and cream)-14 should work, and some smaller spinner patterns in 16-20. But after fishing the evening rise last night, it seemed that all a person really needed was a caddis and some floatant. Lastly, I thought we were all booked up for June but we just found a new guide who has been fishing this river, and guiding lots of others, for a long time. Give us shout if you'd like to let us row you down the river. Hope you get out there to enjoy it. www.laurelhighlandsguideservices.com Attach file: streamer bow.jpg (53.83 KB)![]()
