Thanks! Sadly I haven't fished the Pick for awhile. It used to be my home stream, too. I tend to gravitate towards French when I'm out there; more fish and usually more water, especially pocket. Speaking of that Darby was flowing way better than I would have guessed. Hoping we pick up some more rainfall soon......the cool weather coming will also help.

Started fishing neat Boot Road hoping to find rising to sulphurs. This was my first time on this stream; not impressed. There were def. trout there but water is very slow. Lots of midge activity, and fish rising, but the fly barely moves in the water. Started flipping rocks; no signs of bug life. Certainly no sulphurs nymphs, but there wasnt anything. Very disappointed. I saw a few bass there were good size, and pan f...

Fished there on Sunday 19th. Started at Drake well around 1:00pm.
Fish took on the first cast of a caddis dry then had to work hard for the next few. Got a lot of fish to come to the fly but landed only a few.
About 4:00 pm moved down to Petroleum Center to see what was going on. Few more bugs but not many fish working them. Did see a few sulfurs and cahills. Hooked a handful of fish on a sulfur dry.
Was a beautiful after...

surveyer06; thanks I was pleased and a little proud of myself for that performance. My initial goal was to land a fish or two. That said, I spooked more than one spot, got stuck in a few shrubs and roots, but somehow managed to not lose any flies. That was more shocking to me than the number of fish encountered.

Fished the sulphurs this evening - counting gearing up, walking in and out, was there for about 2 1/2 hours. Landed 7, LDR'd 2, missed 5 or 6. Most fish caught swinging soft hackles - partridge and yellow, and gold ribbed hares hear.

The water started boiling just like its always does right at dusk, but these eyes are getting too old for this stuff! Went back today 5/19 around one pm till around 6:30 pm. Sulphers were hatching pretty good. Started off catching them on sulpher nymphs then switched to dries once they started hatching. Caught 16 all together but had nothing larger than 12". They sure are some pretty colored brownies though. Have to restock with some more sulphers now.

He caught 6 and I caught five. His were mostly on a sulpher nymph and I got mine on a pheasant tail nymph. Nothing was huge but still enjoyed catching some fish in York County

The State of Maryland had some major hatchery issues this year so they stocked a good number of very robust medium to large rainbows from the Freshwater Institute this year. They are a real hoot to catch and release and they hold better than the standard stocked trout. The larger Palominos seem to be particularly picky, but they are willing to take some weighted nymph and crayfish imitations presented on the bottom.
It's a great trout stream the trout are hard to catch. Above Tylersville hatchery all the way up used to be great fishing has really seemed to go downhill as I think it did below the federal hatchery to where it is stocked. Alot of big trout have been caught in that stream both brook trout and brown trout.

Thank you Ned. Just pheasant tail for the tail/abdomen, some copper wire for a rib, peacock ice dub, and cdc for a wingcase. In this particular fly, the ends of the cdc split on me and came out looking like batwings instead of the more traditional wing i was going for. Still worked out pretty good, so oh well

In my pic, the shadow is one big solid dark bar right across the lower left.

The shadow in ...

The previous night's cold didn't portend well for fishing. I fished @ Blood Farm, below the ice dam. The grannoms started a little after 10 and the hatch was light and short. There was a little surface activity. I stuck with a dual rig of sz. 14 pupa and a bead head peacock wetfly. Caught 3 and missed 2. Looked for fish @ Rynd Farm but nada. Checked-out the dam looking for migrating bass stacked-up. Nada again. Noticed a few fi...

Hit the Quittie today for about an hour at the park. The water is going up and getting cloudy. Caught 4 on a soft hackle hare's ear. Gave up as the rain chased me off and I couldn't see the bottom to wade.....that crick has the slickest mud I've ever encountered on the banks.

Was fortunate enough to bring 8 to hand. 6 came on a caddis dry, the other 2 came on a bwo soft hackle under an indie.

Doesn't seem to be a good sign that a station in a state park in a busy lot isn't being maintained. Does anyone know if chestnut ridge tu placed this or if the dcnr/park did?
