Pcray, no, not addressed to you. I think we have differences in what we believe is the definition of "conservation.". You define conservation as conserving resource for public enjoyment whereas i define conservation as conserving a resource for the benefit of preserving the resource whether the public can or cannot use it. Not saying you are wrong but we define conservation differently.

OK, so if you count the number of streams on the Natural reproduction list there are 3832 stream sections that are on the list. Unfortunately they don't list the mileage. What it doesn't say is that there are multiple times a stream may appear on the list because the streams are listed by sections. That's a lot of streams, but again the Class B streams have 1500 miles of water and there is a lot of it on public ...

While there this past November I brought one fish to hand that was under 20". I too have heard both terms jacks and skippers. I assumed jacks were under 12" and skippers were over 12". Learn something new everyday!

I'm guessing that PFBC had no money to continue the trout stamps, and that there was resistance from artist to raising the entrance fee. No way I'm paying more for a trout stamp when it will only go to the hatchery program. Now if they wanted to do it right and make a conservation stampfor those folks that don't harvest any trout, I'm in.

It happens :). I gotta get the "Surf" outta the "Cowboy". Been throwing 10 weights about 10 years too long. Had wind in my face yesterday, making 35-40 foot casts, trying to "punch" a size 32 into the wind on 7x. It worked, but I did have to double haul a few to overspeed the cast and get a little extra at the end of the cast. Twice I created Gordian Wind Knots. Fun.

If im catching the harder ones, I want the biggest. I used to leverage the fact that stocked brookies and brownies moved to put up some phenomenal opening day weekend numbers. My brother and I discovered this fact about ten years ago on Kinzua Creek. After the crowds thinned out, we found dozens of brookies and brownies in log jams half a mile from the nearest stocking point. It was like fishing in a hatchery (almost). I pulled three citation brookies out of ...

And what I did was show you examples where very important traits for survival in the wild were bred out of hatchery stock in the matter of a decade or two, and in several cases, slam dunk evidence of such. I could find plenty more if you want. The limit is only what you can find documented online, as pretty much every state with a trout program has some level of intentional genetic engineering to change the traits of their trout.
<br ...

If your flies are matted down, the easy way to stream them is to put a pot of water on the stove with a little water in the bottom of the pot, let it come to a boil, sit a colander on the pot and put your flies in the colander. In a few minutes the steam will bring the matted hackles and fibers back to life. Place the flies on a paper towel to dry before you return them to your fly boxes.

He was fishing for salmon and sea trout and took a dim view of sea trout.
The name of the book; "Angling Sketches" by Andrew Lang.
